![]() Kicking off the Saturday afternoon of Jazz Week to get us in the mood is Coctel de Pasion, a Latin trio made up of Mariel Yglesias, Martin Nemcovsky, and Jeremy Forst, playing a mellow, yet danceable mix of Bolero, Salsa, and Montuno. Mariel is a singer and songwriter from Costa Rica who has worked with Susanna Abreu Williams. Martin is a veteran jazz musician and music instructor from Argentina who has played with Grammy award nominee Adrian Iaies, Cantango, and local jazz quartet, Kestra. Jeremy is a multi-instrumentalist and music teacher from Gibsons who has played with many international and local bands including Groove Souk, The Mixed Tapes, and Djambooti. A fun, entertaining band that’s a local favourite! |

![]() Anna Lumiere plays in many ensembles on the Coast and in Vancouver including Mimosa, and in many Canadian Festivals including the Montreal Jazz Festival and has toured Canada and the East Coast. Graham Ord has played with many influential jazz and world music groups based out of Vancouver and has toured Canada, Japan, and Europe including the Berlin Jazz Festival, the Chicago Jazz Festival and many Canadian Jazz festivals. Bernie Arai's career as a performer, recording artist and educator spans styles from jazz to electronic music to Japanese taiko and has performed across the country with various ensembles, and has also toured across the United States, Japan and Europe. Mike Agranovich is a guitarist and composer based out of Roberts Creek. Mike has been one of the most in demand instrumentalists in the Vancouver Jazz and R&B scene for many years and highly respected in the scene, he has played with some of the best. |

![]() Join jazz vocalist Jacquie Allan along with Budge Schachte on guitar and John Parker Toulson on bass as they present a repertoire of 'straight ahead swinging' jazz overflowing in merriment in the Gibsons Library. Jacquie has a love and respect for jazz and for the originators of the music and at the heart of her performances as an artistic vision that has the intimacy of 'home' in an atmosphere of swinging fun true to the art of vocal jazz. As well as a fine guitarist, Budge Schachte is a producer, composer, educator, co-leads the Gypsy Jazz group 'Van Django' and performs with so many more throughout Canada and beyond. John Parker Toulson has had a 50 year career in music as a bassist, arranger, transcriber, and educator. John began in Edmonton with Tommy Banks, then moved to Toronto to work in various CBC TV productions and settled finally in Vancouver. Over the years he has played with Joe Pass, Lennie Breau, Joe Henderson, Chet Baker, and many others. This afternoon show is always a favourite during 'Jazz Week' and is free with thanks to our very supportive hosts at the Gibsons and District Public Library. |

![]() During Jazz Week, Wanda and her City Guys have been entertaining audiences on the coast for the past 4 years. Ms. Nowicki, who resides in Gibsons, brings "these talented fellas" over from Vancouver, Michael Toth on guitar and Mark Bender on upright bass, "because they are so darn good", and so much fun to play with. The set list is unique and always HIGHLY entertaining. Lesser known jazz gems, a couple of bluesy numbers and a couple of originals by Wanda and other local song writers. This year they are looking forward to having the fantastic Buff Allen accompany them on drums. Mr. Allen has a reputation for being one of the best drummers in Vancouver and one heck of a gentleman. |

![]() Considered the finest Jazz Vocal Improviser in Canada by her peers, her fans and by the musicians who work with her, Jennifer Scott is an important Jazz Voice. Jennifer has performed to sold out crowds from San Diego to Vancouver to Whitehorse on the West Coast of Canada and has begun a major foray onto the world stage including performances in Amsterdam, Milan and Rome. During the 2024 Vancouver Jazz Festival, she received a lengthy standing ovation reception for her duo set with bassist Rene Worst at the same festival. Rene is an in demand bassist, workshop facilitator and performs & teaches worldwide and is a virtuoso on both electric and acoustic basses. As a producer and session artist, he has worked with Juno award nominated Skywalk (a band he co-founded), Mythos and more. He presently produces recordings for singer/songwriters and up and coming artists, tours and performs with his acclaimed duo with partner Jennifer Scott and is the bassist with Bay Area ensemble Novo Tempo. |

![]() "Mary Ancheta Quartet’s 'Gotta Get It' is a supercharged jazz and funk jam." Georgia Straight Inspired by the likes of Squarepusher, The Meters, John Scofield, and Prince, Ancheta knows what’s up when it comes to arresting melodies and irresistible grooves with Paul Clark on drums, IG @ Dominic Conway on sax, and Matt Reid on bass. Encompassing her experience in film scoring Ancheta seeks to tap into raw fuelled moments favouring grittiness over perfection. Last summer they opened for BADBADNOTGOOD and played the MainStage on Jazz Festivals from coast to coast. The Quartet just returned from performing at the Sydney Festival and making her Australian debut. In July 2025 Mary and her group have been invited to represent Canada at World Expo in Osaka, Japan ... but first they are appearing in Winegarden Park at our own Gibsons Landing Jazz Festival AND BEYOND. |

![]() Tumbling Tumbleweeds is a western swing outfit based in Vancouver. With a blend of hot jazz, classic country, and old time fiddling, the Tumbleweeds will bring you back to the dancehalls of the 1930's and 40's. The band is equally at home at a music festival, dive bar, or seated concert and are sure to get the crowds dancing. The Tumbling Tumbleweeds are: Woody Bell Jr. on vocals and guitar (you may hear him yodel from time to time); Woody Forster on vocals and steel guitar; Devora Laye on vocals and percussion; Alex Hallbom on vocals and bass; April Stainsby on violin; Michael Coury on trumpet. A perfect way to end the day in the park with some fun dancing to tunes taking you back to bygone days. |
